How to take the NJ School Real Estate Salesperson Exam

First you should have finished taking the entire 75-hour course with us, then you should have already registered to take the school exam and then let us know if you have.

We must manually enter you into the 3rd party exam delivery system before the exam link will work on our website for you.

We have to confirm payment for the class was originally made and that the student is attempting to take the exam within the allowed time frame and that you completed the course hours before we enter you into the exam system to take the school exam.

You cannot automatically start the exam after registering or registering and paying if required until we manually enter you into the system. Once you enroll and pay, the exam will NOT be instantly available until we manually enter you into the system. To speed the process up, you should give us a call AFTER you have registered or registered & paid for those required so we know that you enrolled.

Once we have added you to our exam system, you may start your exam anytime you want. Remember you have 6 months to complete the course including passing the school exam.

Time Limitation to Complete Education & School Exam
We give our students 6-months to complete the education requirements which entails completing the required 75-hour course and passing the school exam.

If the student goes over the 6-month limit, they may be granted a one-time only 6-month extension out to one year from the student's class start date for an additional $100 + the exam fee which can be paid for on the exam registration/payment page. Past one year, the student must pay and retake the entire course again, see our calendar page for the schedules but if less than 18 months, you can take the 2nd chance program http://www.careerpathacademy.com/calendar

WHAT IF I HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE FOR GOING OVER THE 6 MONTH DEADLINE?

WHATEVER THE REASON If you went over the initial 6 month period to complete your school hours and pass the school exam past that deadline for whatever reason, we do have an option for you to extend that 6 month period to 1 year from your original start date (giving an additional 6 months) to complete the education requirement for an additional $100 for the extension plus the exam fee.

The student will get an additional 6 months to complete the hours and pass the school exam and have us certify that with the state REC. We only allow one (1) extension like this. There are no other extensions allowed, beyond that, you will need to pay and retake the course but if under 18 months from your original start date you can retake the class for $285 discounted 2nd chance rate (for salespersons).

We are empathetic but we hear all kinds of excuses as to why the student didn't take their exam or finish their classes within the generous deadline, from my dog ate my notes (yes that was a real one) to medical emergencies and accidents and having some students coming to us up to 3 years later demanding to take it (we get that one more than you'd think). We, therefore, implemented a policy long ago pertaining to fulfilling your requirements. It was on the student's initial registration form for class and again when entering zoom classes and in videos on our website. So there really is no acceptable excuse from our policy and our generous time frame which no other schools have. Where there is a will there is a way, and this is a business therefore we need to have some policies in place for students to perform within deadlines.

If I qualified for the two free exam attempts but did not take them before the 6-month deadline
Students will no longer qualify for the free exam attempts if they haven't taken them before the 6-month deadline. Those paying for the 6-month extension to one-year from their start date must also pay for the 2 exam attempts as well. The $100 is to extend the qualification deadline, plus $20 for the salesperson exam.

EXAM TAKING TIPS
See our exams tips page: https://www.careerpathacademy.com/salespersonexam/exam-tips

Link to Start the Exam
Here is the link to start the exam good for 2 exam attempts within 6 months of your class start date unless you also paid for the 6-month extension. http://www.careerpathacademy.com/salespersonexam/start

The student will use the same link to retake the exam that they used to initially start their exam after we enter you in the system and remove the security lock. After 2 attempts the school must be contacted to remove this security lock that will prevent you from taking the exam more than twice.

What if I need more than one or two attempts to pass the school exam?
If you need more than one attempt just return to the exam start link, it is good for two tries. http://www.careerpathacademy.com/salespersonexam/start

If you need more than two attempts just pay for the exam but please skip registering for it again http://www.careerpathacademy.com/salespersonexam and shoot Victor, the school director an email victor@careerpathacademy.com or call 732-650-9911 (do not text this number it is a landline) to let us know you needed us to remove the security lock on your account to retake the school exam which is placed there automatically once a student passes the exam or fails twice.  Please be specific to avoid confusion when noting the SCHOOL exam security lock as the state has similar security features on theirs we sometimes have to address. You may then use the same link to start the exam once the lock has been removed from your account.

CAN I RETAKE THE CLASS BEFORE TAKING THE SCHOOL EXAM?

YES, We give our students 6 months to initially complete the course and they can sit in any class during this period to either complete their hours or simply for review. Just let the instructor know why you are there, to complete hours or simply for review. If for review, you won't need to sign in. Note you have up to 1 year of free reviews even after you finish the class as a refresher before taking the state exam.

After you pass the school exam
It is very important to let us know, in case we missed it on your student exam verification form if you have ever taken and passed a New Jersey real estate class in the past, either with us or another school as this may place a security lock on your file they keep on you. We will contact PSI's testing center to ask them to remove a security lock from their testing system otherwise you will never get the instructions or be able to take the state exam.

After passing the school exam the student has one (1) year to get their license which includes passing the state exam, getting fingerprinted and affiliating with a broker to activate the license, and paying $160 to the State Treasurer of New Jersey (as a reminder. A  Year is A Year is A Year! Not a day more is the phrase the REC requires schools pass along to you and we do so repeatedly).

If I Pass the School Exam, can I take it again?
No, you get two attempts to pass it, if you pass on the first try then congratulations, however, you cannot take it again as practice. We are working on offering an exam practice test database students can use, however, this is currently in development and not available yet.

CAN I RETAKE THE CLASS FOR REVIEW BEFORE TAKING THE STATE EXAM?
We give our students 1 year of free class retakes from their start date for review purposes (not to certify their hours with the state), Just check our class schedules on the website and stop into any class currently, in session, bring your book and let the instructor know you will be sitting in class only for review before taking the state exam.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE STATE EXAM AFTER I FINISH SCHOOL?
After you pass the school exam: you have 1 year to get your salesperson license with the state, not just a deadline to take the state exam. Remember A Year is A Year is A Year! Not a day more is the phrase the REC requires schools pass along to you and we do so repeatedly).

WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO GET MY LICENSE?
To get the license, within 1 year after you complete your education requirements which include passing the school exam, you must pass the state exam, get fingerprinted, and affiliate with a broker, then send in all your paperwork from the test center and fingerprinting form and cash register looking receipt they give you, along with a money order made out to the state treasurer of New Jersey for $160 to get the license. Your broker can do this online now as well.

HOW DO I GET MY COURSE TRANSCRIPT?
(This would be the completion certificate the school sent you upon passing the school exam)

If you are trying to get your license in another state and avoid taking classes again, they will require you to obtain an education waiver. To do this, they will require you to provide proof of taking a real estate class, which would be a transcript of the course. The class completion certificate we emailed you after passing the school exam is the school course transcript. That's what they need, just search your emails for the phrase "completion certificate" if deleted you may request a new one, but this may take several days for us to email you another. We first need to verify your education.
